There's something about the tactile nature of oil paints that I love. It's great to get the right colour and paste in on in chunks (I use a bright brush to get an impressionistic mosaic effect). The accidental effects you get with paint are all part of the fun.

I've painted in oils since school, but my work got a shot in the arm after I spent a scholarship year at Julian Ashton's, Sydney. I love getting outdoors and painting landscapes. Lately I've also been working up larger pieces in my studio (garage). The inspiration for my landscapes is mainly Sydney Long, Walter Withers and the mighty Arthur Streeton. I also dabble in portraits (including the occasional animal).

You can buy some of these paintings at my Etsy store.
